A steady prayer of mine is that God would make something beautiful of my life.
I desire to have a beautiful heart,
a beautiful family,
a beautiful home, and
a beautiful life.
I even want to look beautiful!
I don’t believe that this desire to create beauty in us and through us is narcissistic or vain. I believe the desire to create beauty and inspire others with our lives has been given to us by God.
God is the most inspiring and beauty-creating Being that I know. He is the author of beauty. The more I get to know Him – the more I’m inspired to create beauty with my life.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. – Ecclesiastes 3:11
Creation is dripping with God’s beauty! Through nature, God is able to teach us, speak to us, and even provide for us.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. – Romans 1:20
I want to look beautiful
. . . I want to put my best foot forward before the world. I want my husband to be pleased with what he sees when he looks at me so, I do what I can to keep up appearances. But I’m not a spring chicken any more. What was once tight, is now a bit jiggly. What once stood, is beginning to fall. The middle is rounding (enter spanx). The eye lashes are thinning, and there are laugh lines where there were none before.
Yes, my outward beauty is fading – and I’m thankful for the years I’ve lived which has caused my beauty to fade – but my inward beauty . . . my spirit can grow more beautiful day-by-day.
Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. – 1 Peter 3:3-4
I want to have a beautiful heart
. . . so, I nourish it daily by reading God’s word and spending time in His presence. Just like I wash my face daily, I have to wash my heart with the word of God so that my heart is clean and beautiful. God’s word is the ultimate cleanser. It purifies and purges as it washes over me.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,…” – Ephesians 5:25-26
I want to have a beautiful home
. . . I want my family to see, feel, hear, taste and smell beauty in my home; so, I cast a vision for what I want to see done, then I diligently work to execute my vision. I want the colors of my home to inspire and create a mood. I want my family to experience the comforts of home and the beauty of togetherness.
I want them to hear the sounds of worship music playing in the background, and the sounds of mamma singing praises to her God as she goes about her daily routine. I want them to smell and taste good food.
I want a beautiful family
. . . so, I keep pushing myself to honor our family traditions, celebrate birthdays, make a big-to-do out of the little things, cook for the crowd, and set the finest table I can with extra special touches – just to show my family that I care.
I try to honor my husband by holding-my-tongue in front of the kids so he doesn’t feel disrespected. I try to find opportunities to share Christ with my children in meaningful ways through out the day. I say sorry (to the kids and my husband – that darn tongue!). We laugh. We dance. (Well, I dance and they watch.)
God’s Word inspires me to have a beautiful life
. . . and having this website is a part of that.
Through Welcome Home Ministry, I hope to strengthen women in their faith and encourage and equip them in their journey as wives and moms. I hope to convince them that God can do amazing things in their home: that He can heal, restore, and make all things new.
{God will} bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. – Isaiah 61:3
Speaking of beauty, this website just received a beautiful make-over, and that makes me as giddy as a kid in a candy store on allowance day! Here’s a look at the blog’s new beautiful slider.
An eBook to help make your home-life beautiful . . .
There’s something else new and exciting coming down-the-pike at Welcome Home Ministry!
In just a few days, I’ll be releasing my first eBook: A Wise Woman Builds: The Art of Home Building. It’s a FREE, 20 page guide designed to equip women in building a Christ centered home.
It’s almost unbelievable to me that someone with my past struggles could even qualify to write a title like that. It just goes to show that God is a restorer, and with Him all things are possible.
My life verse: “Who am I, Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought
me{us} this far?” – 2 Samuel 7:18 (Strike through and italics are mine.)
If you subscribe to Welcome Home Ministry you’ll be one of the first to know when The Art of Home Building releases. My heart’s desire is that it serves as a useful tool in helping you create beauty in your home.
